Where has the school year gone? Maybe it's just me, but I feel the school year is flying. With that said, we still do have 7 weeks of learning left to do to best prepare them for 5th grade. Please remind your children that coming to school ready to learn is just important as it was at the beginning. With the weather starting to be nice out, the students have been becoming extra chatty...who can blame them, but we really need to still be focusing. Look over in the column to see what important dates are coming up.
M-step (which is in place of the MEAP) will be starting in two weeks, and your child will need their headphones to listen to the instructions. I do have a couple extra pairs for students who can't buy any. Make sure they always eat a hearty breakfast and get a good night sleep.
Homework is another important factor to school and success. Please check up on your child to see if they are doing their homework every night. Thank you so much for the continued support.
We have started a new unit in Science called View From the Earth and I have been so impressed of how much the students already know about the Earth, sun and moon. We have been doing weather observations every day which they have been enjoying.
We also have started a new math unit the week before spring break which continues from fractions and goes into decimals. I have also been surprised and excited how much they have picked up on this topic so quickly. They are learning how to add decimals using expanded form and little place-value disc.
In writing, they have been creating a comic strip, which most of them have been enjoying tremendously. It gives those students who don't like to write a lot, to still write, but be able to draw more:)
I think that is all for now. Thank you to all those parents who attended conferences. It is such a great time to reflect on your child's hard work in school.
