I hope everyone had a great break and a happy new year. Thankfully, we can have a clean slate in the New Year if we need to:) The students made a pretty good transition back to the classroom from our break, but still a little extra chatty. We are working on it:)There are many viruses going around so remind your children to keep washing their hands so we don't all keep getting sick! We are getting close to wrapping up the second quarter of the year. I will start working on report cards next week and the following week. We have a big Science Unit test coming up January 21st. A study guide will go home next week to prepare them for the test. We will also take one last SRI test to determine their reading level and what they can comprehend. Your child's score and color should be located on their homework log. Fourth grade should be currently in the Orange- level 700. We will also have one more spelling test and reading street test that will go on this upcoming report card.
Some of you may have notice the math homework looking a little different. We, fourth grade teachers, are piloting a new math program for the fractions unit. Therefore, the unit requires math homework every night or every lesson you complete. It can be challenging so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! I think the students are enjoying it because we use whiteboards everyday now!
Thank you to those parents who have read the letter I sent on with statistics that does their daily homework every night or even sometimes. It was interesting information I gathered. Please continue making it a routine at home as Dibbles testing is coming up soon:)
Lastly, thank you to those parents who donated for a "late" Christmas party, the students had a blast making cookies and decorations.
